Dr. Liu is a skilled Postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a robust academic background and research experience. He completed his B.S. degree at Shandong Normal University, followed by his PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, CAS, where he researched the chemotaxis system of Azorhizobium caulinodans to understand better the relationship between A. caulinodans and its legume host Sesbania rostrata. Dr. Liu is keenly interested in studying bacteria's chemotactic motility and biofilm formation, focusing on understanding how to control these processes. He is currently working on the human pathogen Helicobacter pylori as a model to further the understanding of the mechanisms by which bacteria colonize, persist, and infect the host and then contribute to developing new treatments for bacterial infections.
