Dr. Divya Ail is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Paris-Saclay (Evry), France. Her main research interests are in understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of retinal diseases and to help develop therapies for vision restoration. Dr. Ail completed her MSc in Molecular Bioengineering from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. She then earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, where her work focused on elucidating hypoxia-mediated mechanisms in retinal degeneration. Her first postdoc was at the Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience, France. Here she explored molecular mechanisms of retinal regeneration. This was followed by a second postdoc at the Vision Institute in Paris, France where she worked on translational research and developed non-human primate models of retinal degeneration that will be used to test therapies before their translation to clinics for human applications.
